What Matters? writing competition 2009

The Whitlam Institute
The Whitlam Institute is delighted to announce the details of the What Matters? writing competition for 2009. The competition asks young people from across NSW and the ACT to write about what matters for their future. Students from Years 5-12 are asked to write a 400-600 word opinion piece on what matters to them and why.

Competition patron, Hugh McKay, said listening to young Australians is like getting a message from the future.

In the words of Mr Gough Whitlam: “For the children of Australia... the answer is to involve the creative energies of our children and our youth in a creative, concerned community.”

The winner and runners up will receive a variety of prizes. The competition will open Tuesday 3 February 2009 and close Wednesday 1 April 2009.
